After our amazing stay in Tasmania we flew over to the West Coast and spent a couple of days in Perth, meeting some lovely friends from Alex' time in London. Then we headed out of town and went south to Margaret River, the most famous wine region in Western Australia. We spent our days hopping from winery to winery and enjoying the beautiful beaches and landscape around.

We arrived in Hobart, the capital city of Tasmania, and spent a few days there exploring the city and the probably most controversial museum on the island. Then we took the ferry to Bruny island where we were overwhelmed by beautiful nature and extremely good food. And last but not least we visited the Tasman Peninsular with the famous historic site of Port Arthur. A good first impression of "Tassie".

We spent our last days in New Caledonia with Fabien and Keisha and used their home as a base for our day trips to "Parc de la Rivière Bleu" in southern Grande Terre and to spend some time in Nouméa itself.

Even though we have only been in Indonesia for 2 weeks and did not experience the whole variety of food and local specialities we would like to give you a quick overview of what we have been eating and drinking there.

And now you will probably ask yourselves: and what the hell do they eat in Laos? Though there is much less variety in the dishes than in neighboring Vietnam or Thailand, Laos does have some typical dishes that you will most likely find on every menu.

After the adventurous and very authentic trek in Phongsaly, we went on a chilled boat ride down the Nam Ou river to arrive at the small, yet beautiful town of Luang Prabang to do sightseeing, relax and celebrate Alex' birthday.

 

Ancient port town, illuminated lanterns, lots of charm, beach life and a food mecca - sounds good? Go to Hoi An!

Apart from the well-known Pho Bo, do you know what Vietnamese people eat all day long? We were amazed by the great variety of dishes and their absolute freshness! And we have to revise our statement that Thai food is the best Asian cuisine because Vietnamese food is just equally good.
